Hearken = To listen; to lend the ear; to attend to what is uttered, with eagerness or curiosity. To attend; to regard; to give heed to what is uttered; to observe or obey. Who wants us to believe in, listen to and obey Him? God. Who wants you to do the opposite? Satan, of course. Deuteronomy 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee: (If you choose not to listen to God and do as He says, expect many curses to come upon thee. Those curses are explained in verses 16 to 68). Proverbs 1:33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. (If you listen to God and do what He tells you to do, you have nothing to be afraid of. What happens if you don't hearken to Him? The opposite. Many ask, Why is there so much evil in the world? Ask yourself, How many people actually hearken to God? That should be a good place to start). Jeremiah 6:17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. Jeremiah 6:18 Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. Jeremiah 6:19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it. [Why was evil brought on? They rejected the warnings of the watchmen and have rejected God and His words]. Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. [What happens if you reject knowledge, therefore lack knowledge from God's word? He rejects you; plain and simple. Not a good choice to reject knowledge of His word]. In many verses, God tells us to hearken unto Him, pay attention to Him and don't reject Him. You only get two choices in each case. What happens to you is based on this one decision that has two choices only. You either hearken unto Him or you don't. Is there a third choice? Many think so, but there isn't. One choice equals blessings. The other choice equals the opposite, curses, evil, etc. You are responsible for you! No one else is responsible for you! You get what you ask for! You reap what you sow.
